It features 3M™ precision-shaped ceramic abrasive grain and has been proven to outperform traditional aluminum zirconia flap discs. 3M precision-shaped abrasive grains retain their shape during grinding, continually fracturing into sharp points and edges that cut cleanly through metal, unlike conventional abrasive grains, which may gouge the workpiece surface. This unique abrasive mineral structure, combined with the flap design, enables consistent abrasive performance throughout the life of the disc. The strong polyester backing increases durability, and the conformable design makes these discs suitable for high-pressure grinding applications such as edge grinding, weld grinding, and edge deburring. The finish is clean, making the discs suitable for blending and surface preparation as well. In many cases, 3M™ Flap Disc 769F makes it possible to combine grinding and finishing in the same step without changing abrasives. Under normal conditions, 769F produces a finish that is one grade finer than a surface ground with a fiber disc of the same grit. Although a fiber disc removes material faster, using a flap disc can reduce work steps and disc changes, helping save time and increase productivity.
