Petzl Vertex is an ergonomic, closed-shell safety helmet for work use. This updated model, with a new structure and accessory compatibility, has been available since 04/2019. It is designed for versatile use both in environments with a risk of falling and for work on level ground. It is a recommended model for industrial use, as well as for the electrical and energy sectors. The helmet can be quickly fitted with the new Petzl Vizir eye shield, Protector visor cover, Vizen full-face shield, or Vizen Mesh mesh visor using the EasyClip quick-attachment pins included with those products, which replace the black side inserts on the helmet. All Bollé Safety welding masks can likewise be attached using optional adapters. Removal is tool-free and done simply by pressing the buttons.

Side slots for hearing protection. Compatible with the most common helmet-mounted hearing protectors (including Sordin). Identical front and rear mounting slots for, for example, a headlamp quick-mount plate or ID card holder. Integrated side clips for attaching a headlamp with a headband. Rear attachment points for a neck protector.

The chinstrap features a Dual selector: the user can set it to comply with EN12492 when working in environments with a fall risk (the chinstrap stays fastened under a 50 daN(kg) pull), or to comply with EN397 when working on level ground (the chinstrap releases under a 25 daN(kg) pull). The 6-point suspension keeps the helmet securely on the head even in demanding working positions and provides excellent comfort. Thanks to the CenterFit adjustment system (53–63 cm), the helmet is always properly centered and fits exceptionally well. The two externally adjustable side wheels are easy to use even while wearing gloves. The Flip&Fit internal structure folds into the helmet for protection during transport and is easy to deploy. The helmet has no brim that could interfere with work, strain the neck, or limit the field of vision, and no stiffening channel that could snag on structures.

Vertex helmets offer good compatibility with other PPE. Recommended, for example, for use with GVS Elipse half-mask respirators and Bollé Safety eye protection.

Maximum service life 10 years, resulting in more than 77% less environmental waste compared to a standard helmet.

Shell material: ABS. Weight: 490 g.

3-year warranty against material and manufacturing defects.

Certification: CE EN397, EN50365. ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2014 Type 1 Class E LT. EAC.

NOTE! This new Vertex Vent is not compatible with Vizir and Vizir Shadow eye shields or Vizen full-face shields designed for helmets manufactured before 04/2019. You can identify incompatible models by the fact that they use mounting screws, whereas the compatible new versions have tool-free EasyClip quick-attachment points. For reference: thanks to the Dual selector, Vertex has replaced the earlier Vertex Best and Vertex ST models, which were discontinued from the range as of 04/2019. Tested to protect the head according to the following test methods:
Mandatory requirements of the EN397 standard:
  • 5.1.1. Shock absorption from impact caused by a single falling object (5 kg from a height of 1 m)
  • 5.1.2. Resistance to penetration by a single object into the helmet (3 kg, 60-degree sharp steel cone from a height of 1 m)
  • 5.1.3. Flame resistance
  • 5.1.4. Chinstrap release performance: remains closed under a 15 daN pull and releases no later than at a 25 daN pull (when the Dual selector is in the <25 kg position)
Optional requirements of the EN397 standard:
  • 5.2.1. Protection performance at low temperatures (-30 C)
  • 5.2.3. Protection against electric shock
  • 5.2.4. Protection against lateral deformation (LD)
  • 5.2.5. Protection against molten metal splash (MM)
Mandatory requirements of the EN50365 standard:
  • Suitable for live working according to EN 50365 Class 0 (1000 V A.C, 1500 V D.C). Additional information: also tested according to ANSI Z89.1-2014 Type I Class E up to 20,000 V.
Mandatory requirements of the EN12492 standard:
  • 5.7.3 High force required to open the chinstrap so that the helmet does not come off due to impact on the head in a fall situation (when the Dual selector is in the >50 kg position)
  • 4.2.1.1 Shock absorption from falling objects dropped from heights over one meter (5 kg from a height of 2 m)
  • 4.2.1.2 Front impact protection
  • 4.2.1.3 Side impact protection
  • 4.2.1.4 Rear impact protection
  • 4.2.2 Resistance to penetration by multiple objects into the helmet (3 kg sharp weight from a height of 1 m, 2x)
  • 4.2.3 Strength of the suspension system
  • 4.2.4 Stability test (10 kg falling load pulls upward on the helmet rim from the front and rear)
