Petzl Vertex Vent safety helmet, blue

Petzl Vertex Vent is an ergonomic ventilated safety helmet for work use. This is the new model in terms of structure and accessory compatibility, available from 4/2019 onward. Designed for versatile applications both in fall-risk environments and for work on level ground. Especially well suited for construction work, industrial use, confined spaces, rescue work, asphalt work, snow removal, and other demanding jobs where things can get hot. The side ventilation openings can be easily closed from the outside, for example in rain or snowfall. Total ventilation opening area with the shutters open: 26.77 cm2.

The helmet can be quickly fitted with the new-style Petzl Vizir eye shield, Protector visor cover, Vizen full-face shield, or Vizen Mesh mesh visor using the EasyClip quick-attachment pins included with those products, which replace the black side inserts on the helmet. All Bollé Safety welding masks can likewise be attached using optional adapters. Removal is tool-free and done simply by pressing the buttons. Slots on the sides for hearing protection. Compatible with the most common helmet-mounted hearing protectors (including Sordin). Identical front and rear mounting slots for, for example, a headlamp quick-mount plate or ID card holder. Integrated side clips for attaching a headlamp with a headband. Rear attachment points for a neck protector.

The chinstrap features a Dual switch: the user can select the EN12492-compliant setting for movement in fall-risk conditions (chinstrap stays fastened under a 50 daN(kg) pull), or the EN397-compliant setting for work on level ground (chinstrap releases under a 25 daN(kg) pull). The 6-point suspension keeps the helmet secure even in difficult working positions and provides excellent comfort. Thanks to the CenterFit adjustment system (53–63 cm), the helmet is always properly centered and fits extremely well. The two externally adjustable side wheels are easy to use even while wearing gloves. The Flip&Fit inner system folds into the helmet for protection during transport and is easy to fold back out. The helmet has no brim that would interfere with work, strain the neck, or limit the field of vision, and no stiffening gutter that can catch on structures. Vertex helmets offer good compatibility with other protective equipment. A recommended choice for use with, for example, GVS Elipse half-mask respirators and Bollé Safety eye protection.

Maximum service life 10 years, resulting in over 77% less environmental waste compared to a standard helmet.

Tested to protect the head according to the following test methods:
Mandatory requirements of the EN397 standard:

• 5.1.1. Shock absorption from impact by a single falling object (5 kg from a height of 1 m)
• 5.1.2. Resistance to penetration by a single object into the helmet (3 kg 60-degree sharp steel cone from a height of 1 m)
• 5.1.3. Flame resistance
• 5.1.4. Chinstrap release: remains fastened under a 15 daN pull and releases no later than under a 25 daN pull (when the Dual switch is in the <25 kg position)

Optional requirements of the EN397 standard:

• 5.2.1. Protection at low temperatures (-30 C)
• 5.2.4. Resistance to lateral deformation (LD)
• 5.2.5. Protection against molten metal splash (MM)

Mandatory requirements of the EN12492 standard:

• 5.7.3 High force required to open the chinstrap so the helmet does not come off due to impact to the head in a fall situation (when the Dual switch is in the >50 kg position)

Finnish Government Decree (205/2009) on safety in construction work, Chapter 13 Section 71: A safety helmet must be worn on construction sites. If necessary, the helmet must be equipped with an underhood. Personal eye protection appropriate to the work and working conditions must be used in construction work. The employer must provide employees with safety glasses in work where there is a significant risk of eye injury.

NOTE! This new Vertex Vent is not compatible with Vizir and Vizir Shadow eye shields or Vizen full-face shields designed for helmets manufactured before 4-2019. You can identify the incompatible models by their fastening screws, whereas the compatible new versions have tool-free EasyClip quick-attachment points.
