For taper pins according to DIN, the length is specified excluding the rounded end portions (l), i.e. the straight length.
For taper pins according to ISO, the length is specified as the total pin length, including the rounded ends.
Taper pins are designed for friction-type fastening and/or locking of two or more individual components. The tapered shape allows the parts to be removed repeatedly. When the parts are reassembled, their position is just as accurate as before, and the friction between the components remains stable.
