The service magnet is pressed onto the valve’s armature tube to replace the solenoid coil. The service magnet creates a magnetic field in exactly the same way as the solenoid coil, but this permanent magnet does not require electricity to operate. With service magnets, for example, it is easy to force all the valves in the circuit open during venting, even if electrical controls have not yet been connected to the valves. LVI number 4122069.
